How to connect my Instagram Account?

Connecting your Instagram account to Skeepers takes two steps, and you do not need a Facebook account or a Facebook Page. Here is exactly how it works.

Once your Instagram account is connected, we can automatically collect the content you publish for brands and its statistics — so you never have to send anything by hand.

What you need before you start

One thing only: your Instagram account must be a professional account. Both types work — Business and Creator.

Not sure which one you have? Open Instagram, go to Settings and privacy > Account type and tools. If you see an option to switch to a professional account, your account is still personal — switch it, then come back.

A personal account will not work. Instagram only shares content and statistics with us for professional accounts. This is an Instagram rule, not a Skeepers one.

Connect your Instagram account

  1. In your Skeepers account, go to Settings > Accounts.
  2. Find Instagram in the list and click Connect.
  3. Read the two steps on the screen, then click Start connection.

  4. Log in to Instagram with the account you post with. This happens on Instagram's own page — we never see your password.
Instagram's own login page opens. Use the account you publish with.

  5. Instagram shows you what Skeepers will be able to access. Accept all the permissions, then tap Allow.
Both permissions must stay switched on before you tap Allow.

All the permissions are required. If you leave one switched off — usually the one about insights — the connection is refused and you will see a message saying the required permissions were not granted. Start again and accept everything. We use these permissions only to retrieve the content you create for brands and its statistics. We never post on your behalf, and we do not sell your content or your personal data.

That's it. You are taken back to Skeepers and your account is connected.

What happens next

Your account now goes through a short validation before campaigns open up to you. It usually takes 3 to 5 days, and you will get an email as soon as it is done.

Reconnect an account that stopped working

A connection can expire, or you may have removed Skeepers from your Instagram settings. When that happens, an alert appears at the top of Settings > Accounts, and the account concerned shows a Reconnect button.

A connection that is no longer valid: the alert at the top, and the Reconnect button on the account.

Click Reconnect and follow the same steps as above. You keep everything — your history, your past content and your statistics are all preserved.

Frequently asked questions

Do I still need a Facebook account or a Facebook Page?

No. Neither one. You log in directly with Instagram, and the account you post with is the account you connect.

Can I connect a personal Instagram account?

No. Your account has to be professional — Business or Creator. Switching is free and takes less than a minute in your Instagram settings.

I refused one permission and the connection failed. Is something broken?

No, that is expected. All the permissions are needed for us to retrieve your content and its statistics. Start the connection again and accept all of them.

Will I lose my history if I reconnect?

No. We find your existing profile and reuse it, with everything already attached to it.

I just published a post and I can't find it in the list.

Give it a few minutes. It can take up to 5 minutes for a brand-new post to reach us. Wait, then refresh the list again — there is nothing wrong with your connection.

I get a message saying my account is already linked to another Skeepers account.

An Instagram account can only be connected to one Skeepers account at a time. The message tells you which account is holding it. If that account is not yours, contact us.
